It was claimed that he helped move at least 400 tons of cocaine to the US by using the country s police to illegally export the drug.....He was extradited to the US in April 2022, just three months after ending his second term as president.....Hernandez, commonly known as JOH, was sentenced in New York in 2024 to 45 years in prison on drug trafficking charges after US prosecutors accused him of helping move hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States.....he was pardoned and released by President Donald Trump last December as Honduras was undergoing presidential elections marked by serious allegations of electoral fraud against the National Party and its candidate, Nasry Asfura, who was declared president Dec. 24.
